Mitchum Was Right: Rory Gilmore Didn't Have It.

Rory Gilmore becoming a failed journalist at age 32 came as anything but a shock to me. An entitled, white, wealthy-by-proxy, sheltered girl with little discipline from her childish mother and virtually absent father does not a strong Christiane Amanpour successor make.

Journalism requires simultaneous grit, curiosity, and resilience. While Rory did display bouts of these qualities in isolated bursts, she did not employ them in the trifecta that the field demands.

In the pilot, Rory almost gives up the chance to go to a prestigious private high school for a chance to stay closer to a boy she just met. She was sixteen, so I grant her grace, but it's the first instance of many where outside influences derail her ambitions.

Rory's main weakness is her entitlement and her refusal to acknowledge it.

Why Do We Care So Much?

I don't understand the hate that North West receives for the way she dresses. As a former wannabe alternative 13-year-old myself, I WISHED I had enough money to dress the way I wanted to.

All I see is a young girl expressing herself. Society is way too strict about what young girls can and can't wear.

Unless an outfit is BLATANTLY inappropriate, I say wear what you want, Diva!

Are Slow Burns Dead?

Is there some kind of epidemic going around that only affects the demographic of young adults aged 18-22?

Why does there seem to be an influx of jumping to I-love-you's, out-of-town trips, multiple 20-slide posts on Instagram captioned with paragraphs and paragraphs about how much someone "loves" another person not even a full month into the relationship?

I Will Be Romanticizing My Life This School Year

Classes start again in exactly two weeks, and I almost started to complain. But I realized this is an opportunity. I can finally stop laying on my laurels like I have been all summer and actually accomplish things. Last year, I let myself get lazy--that will never happen again. I will be an academic weapon. I will attend every class, I will wake up early, I will only wear my cutest outfits, my hair will always be done. It is time to be the best version of myself. Any recreation outside of academics will be a privilege. I will only reward myself with parties, movie nights, and hangouts after all of my homework is complete. I will attract only the best people. I will make good, lifelong friends.

I Have Powers and They Scare Me

My powers have become too strong for my own good. It's really like anything I want, I get it. It was cool and quirky at first, but it has become too accurate and too consistent. Even ask my best friend, she can vouch for this.

This is not a complaint, though. I mean, maybe a little because it does kind of freak me out. But, overall, it's really effing cool.

No really, it's so crazy. Like, I will literally say I want something, or I'll predict something, and it will actually happen in real life.

For example, at the beginning of summer, I predicted that Katseye will perform at this year's Victoria's Secret Fashion Show, and guess what? It got announced like a month later that they were.

That's a milder example compared to the other things I bring to life, but you get the point.

I'm literally magic.

What if my powers get too strong and I can't control them? Maybe I can use them to my benefit....

Right now, I will speak out into the universe that I will receive a new super cute pastel pink coat for the fall/winter.

Now we wait...

I Just Had Such an Amazing Dream

The dream I just woke up from was nothing short of blissful.

The person that I lost contact with and I finally reunited. He looked so beautiful, like an angel. Everything just slowed down. We shared this knowing look that told me everything was finally the way it was supposed to be--that the storm has finally passed. It told me that I am finally getting everything I have been wishing for.

Maybe it was a glimpse into the future...?

Only time will tell, but I can't wait to see. ♡
